The busy A180 trunk road that by passes Melton
Ross. The A180 is the main route for vehicles travelling to
the east coast fishing port of Grimsby, and all the other east coast
towns. The steel town of Scunthorpe is approximately fifteen
miles in a westerly direction from Melton Ross. Before the
A180 was built all the traffic travelled through Melton Ross.
Although the traffic volumes were much lighter in those days, many
accidents happened as the traffic negotiated the winding bends on
the old A18 route.
